Claas Arion 400 receives international design award

Claas is among the winners of this years internationally renowned iF Design Award. In the ‘product’ sector Class won the  Automobiles, Vehicles, Bikes category for the Arion 400 tractor with its panoramic cab.

Claas has worked with industry designer Paul Budde from Münster for over 30 years, and he was the one who put the Arion 400 forward for the IF Design Award.

The Arion 400 also won the Gold SIMA Innovation award for its completely new panoramic cab design.

The 2.41 m one-piece windscreen, consisting of the windscreen itself and a glass roof, connected without a crossbeam, was the main design challenge said designer Paul Budde:

“Much like the engine bonnet, the new cab design is the only one of its kind on the market. The one-piece windscreen blends seamlessly into the roof area, providing the driver with an unrestricted view of the front loader at all times.

All of the controls are geared towards the needs of the driver in a logical arrangement from a technical and functional point of view. The Arion 400 is a universal tractor with an interior and exterior design that reflect a high-quality machine with a reliable and comfortable workspace.”

The Arion 400 competed against more than 5000 submissions from 53 countries. The products are assessed based upon design quality, processing and functionality. The jury’s assessment criteria also includes environmental compatibility, safety and innovation.
