Precision drill manufacturer Stanhay undertakes radical re-design of its precision seed drills

The precision drill manufacturer Stanhay, based in Bourne, Lincolnshire has been working on a radical re-design of its precision seed drills.

They will be launching the ProAir to the UK market at LAMMA this year and it’s the first new machine from the firm in 7 years that has been developed in response to feedback from its worldwide customer base.

Forty per cent lighter and 30% shorter than its predecessor the Star Plus offers growers a compact and durable precision drill that is both easy to setup and offers more adjustability than any other unit on the market.

It uses the Stanhay air metering unit and new features include infinite depth control measurable to 0.1mm accuracy thanks to a mechanical counter. A sealed maintenance free flexible drive shaft provides slip free drive from the lay shaft to the metering unit, proven on maize drills worldwide but a first for the vegetable market. Other improvements to the range include a 6m horizontal folding frame and a vacuum seed emptier fitted as standard to all air drills.

The company has also rebranded and there are a host of product improvements in the pipeline.
